Walkways

Walkways provide more than a path from one location to another. They establish movement through a property while connecting entrances, patios, gardens, driveways, decks & outdoor living areas. Above Grade Landscape & Design creates custom walkways using natural stone, granite, brick, pavers, slate, flagstone & other materials.

The design of a walkway influences how visitors experience a property. A wide, formal entrance walkway can create a strong approach to a front door, while a narrower garden path can create a more relaxed transition through landscaping. Walkways can also guide people toward outdoor kitchens, firepits, water features, seating areas & garden destinations.

We consider width, grade, circulation, drainage & transitions between surfaces when planning each installation. In areas with elevation changes, stone steps can be incorporated into the walkway. Retaining walls may be necessary where a path crosses a slope.

Material selection also influences the character of the finished project. Granite can provide a substantial appearance, flagstone offers organic variation, pavers allow patterned layouts & brick can establish a classic architectural style.
